Growing up in Ober-Gleen, a rural 500 people village in Germany, Antje grew up living of the land and learned from a young age that nature heals. Living with the rhythm of the season, time of day and the passed down remedies for healing Antje did not know at this point that Ayurveda had a huge part of her life. From generation passed down remedies to the medical doctor that prescribed her Yoga to heal a back injury she suffered from a riding accident at age 18.
As a free spirit and working for a record label making great money, Antje decided to leave Germany in 1995 and made her way to the west-coast of Canada where she fell in love with her life-partner and all the nature around them.
Raising 2 children she found herself going back to the old remedies that were passed down to her to heal children illnesses and body and mind of family and friends. All of which were provided by mother nature. After taking the path of personal training, rehabilitation specialist, she took up a Yoga teacher training with East to West Yoga in 2004 and continues to study with Kavita Maharaj of Red Door Yoga in Nanaimo and many other teachers around the world. It became very clear that Yoga helped her to be closer to herself and all that is around us. It felt natural that all it requires is a sense of adventure and a willingness to explore the vastness of the Self, which she had obviously been ready for.
In 2007 Antje opened Epic Yoga Studio in Maple Ridge, Canada which grew into a beautiful community and offered a space for everyone to practice without judgement and in peace. In 2012 she decided it was time to move onwards and submerge into the full study of Ayurveda Medicine to be able to heal and help people on a deeper level. Selling Epic Yoga Studio in May of 2014 brought the focus to her studies of Ayurveda with DR. Vasant Lad, Dr. Mark Halpern and Sivananda Ashram to a deeper level.
Antje’s teachings of classes draw in many yogic styles and techniques, ancient and modern, while leading students through process of self-inquiry and exploration that's surprisingly delightful. Sharing her deep philosophy tenderly guides students towards a deeper practice. She enjoys teaching all styles of Yoga; classical Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin, Meditation, Teens and Kids, Restorative and Workshops.
